LLC Board Announced

The Leather Leadership Conference (LLC) announced that Gail "Moira" Henderson from Toronto, Canada and Kevin "Carlton" Comer from Spartanburg, South Carolina were elected to the Board of Directors with terms ending in 2015.

Thomas Smith, Chair from Palm Springs, California; Michael "Odie" Heaston, Treasurer from Seattle, Washington; Sheri "CC" Verhalen, Secretary from Atlanta, Georgia; and Travis Wilson from Houston, Texas continue on Board of Directors. 

The LLC acknowledged the departure of Lynn "Sassy" Reese, Steve Ward, and Jerith Bailey during the past year and thanked them for their contributions to the Board of Directors.

Each year, attendees gather from around the world to share their knowledge and experience with one another. The LLC focuses on building leadership at all levels and fostering a greater sense of unity and understanding within the BDSM/Leather/Kink/Fetish community.

Next year the conference heads to the Pacific Northwest. LLC XVII will be held April 12-14, 2013 in Seattle, Washington -- "Scaling New Heights". And in 2014 the annual event returns to the east coast and the "City of Brotherly Love" Philadelphia.

Judges Announced for MIR 2013

Sly Hands, MIR 2012, led a press conference to announce the judges and tally masters for the 16th annual Mr International Rubber contest.

Judges are:  Sly Hands, Derek DeSilva, Jeff Gent, Jürgen Jakob, Alex Lindsay and Dave Watt. A seventh judge will be announced at a later date. 

Tally Masters are Chandler Beardon and George Schaefer.

Added to the schedule this year is a Rubber Art Show, Kink Classes and the Strict Rubber Play party. 

CLAP Recap

Chesapeake Leather Awareness Pride, or CLAP for short, is a Leather contest put on by Hooker and boys in Baltimore every year. But CLAP is way more than a Leather Title Contest; it's a full weekend of parties, fund raising, and people coming together from across the country.

The way these people come together within the Leather community always makes me feel so warm, full of love, and inspired for all the wonderful things that come of contest weekends. The new title holders full of hope, goals and dreams of how they want their title year to progress, the way people do all they can to support those goals and dreams along the way. These are the things that stand out for me when I go to events such as CLAP, but also since it is my region, it fills me with a special pride in all the wonderful folks who show up!

CARAS Update

On May 1, 2012, Catherine Gross completed her three year term as a Board member of CARAS, the Community-Academic Consortium for Research on Alternative Sexualities. CARAS is a community-based organization dedicated to promoting more research that benefits the BDSM and polyamory communities.

During her tenure as a voice for community concerns on the Board, Catherine created a thoughtful plan for community outreach and helped discern needed changes to the organization’s structure to support that plan. CARAS is still being guided by her vision in important ways.

Incoming Chair of the Board, Race Bannon commented, “Catherine Gross has consistently proven to be someone who provokes and challenges, in the best of ways, conventional thinking. This has encouraged the CARAS Board to rethink and re-imagine many policies and projects in ways that might not have happened if Catherine hadn't cared enough about the mission of CARAS to offer up her insights and ideas to continually improve the results of CARAS.”

SF Pride Leather Marshals

San Francisco Pride 2012 

Race Bannon and Leland Carina have been named Leather Marshals for San Francisco's Pride celebration this year.

Race and Leland have committed to encouraging as many leather/kink men and women as possible to march with the Leather Contingent on Sunday, June 24. They are extending an open invitation to any leather/kink men and women who will be in town for the celebration.

The parade line-up starts at 10:30 AM at Market Street and Beale and ends at Market and 8th Street. Lineup time and location will be posted when it's available. Race and Leland want to show San Francisco and the world how alive and vibrant the leather/kink community is here in California.
