Midwest Leather Weekend

The producers of the Midwest Puppy Contest and the producer of the Mr. Midwest Leather Contest are announcee the formation of the Midwest Leather Weekend, featuring both contests over the October 5 - 7, 2012 weekend.  The Midwest Leather Weekend will take place at the Bad Dog Bar & Grill, 3960 Chouteau Avenue, St. Louis MO 63110.

The weekend kicks off on Friday with the Midwest Puppy Contest, the Mr. Midwest Leather Meet & Greet, and the Leather Dance with a Puppy Mosh Pit. Saturday is the Mr. Midwest Leather Contest followed by the Midwest Leather Ball. Sunday features a Leather Brunch; a great time to meet the weekend's winners and share good times.

Some are born great, some have greatness thrust upon them. And some chase balls and chew bones! The producers are pleased to announce the inaugural year of the Midwest Puppy Contest, produced by Christopher “Tyger” Roth & Bad Dog Enterprises, Inc. This is one of the first large regional Puppy Contests covering the states of  Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Indiana, Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota & Ohio. The contest will follow the format of the International Puppy Contest and the winner will head to the International Puppy Contest next year!

Desert Fetish Authority

The Desert Fetish Authority, Palm Springs’ new organization for men into gear and kinky play, will hold its official Launch Party at Hunters on Thursday, February 9, 2012 from 7:30-9:30 pm. The event will take place in the bar’s Dance Room, which has been reserved exclusively for the group.

The DFA is a brotherhood of men who are into fetish gear and kinky play and who want to learn more about both. It’s a next-generation organization built around the principles of Brotherhood, Gear, Education, Play, Pride and Fun. Newcomers and curious guys are especially welcome.

“For years now,” said John McBain, one of the group’s Founding Organizers, “I’ve been hearing from Desert men looking for a fraternal type of organization where they could hang out with friends, have fun and learn about fetish gear and hot play. After a lot of conversation, some of us have decided to step up and create what we’ve been seeking.”

Attendees can look forward to a casual, social atmosphere filled with sexy, geared-up guys and fun, kinky demos. They’ll also be able to learn more about the DFA’s mission and help shape its future activities.

The group is “unabashedly recruiting,” according to McBain. “If you want to be part of the Next Guard of fetish and kink, then we want you!”

LDG's Erotic Hypnosis

A group of about 100 men and a few women gathered in the space above Mr. S Leather for LDG’s Discussion Group on Erotic Hypnosis. On behalf of Mr. S, Keith Sattelmaier welcomed us and expressed that LDG was invited to consider the space their new home.

Brian James, President of LDG, also welcomed us. He reflected for a moment on the great success of LDG in the past year with events such as “Is Leather Dead,” and said that they are currently working on putting together another amazing year ahead.

LDG is partnering with Cleveland Leather Annual Weekend (CLAW) in the hopes of bringing some of San Francisco to the rest of the world. They are excited to have Richard Sprott on board as their new Mentorship Program Director, as well as the addition of many other new board members. LDG will also be launching an open youth discussion group (YLDG) that will meet at Wicked Grounds in the hopes of providing a non-intimidating space for young men to enter the community. Brian extended thanks to many sponsors, especially David Ortmann for his generous donation which allowed the purchase of the chairs for the Mr. S location.

To introduce Heron Saline, Patrick Mulcahey told us that he takes our trust in his ability to choose presenters seriously. Though he had not yet seen Heron present, he does have an understanding of his wisdom and skill from having been one of his clients. Patrick confided that he went to Heron for help in relation to a specific goal that was giving him difficulty. In three or four sessions he heard himself express insight that he hadn’t before been aware of. He said it was with gratitude, respect, admiration, and curiosity that he invited Heron to present to us.

The Buck Angel Effect

On Saturday January 28, 2012, from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM, the Stockroom University presents The Buck Angel Effect Empowerment by Buck Angel  Buck Angel shares his moving personal life story and the process of his gender transition from female to male, while challenging the audience’s notion of what makes someone a man or a woman. He describes how he changed from a desperately unhappy and uncomfortable individual, to a person who is proud of his body and sexually comfortable with his genitals (which have not been surgically altered). Buck has lead the way for transmen to have self-acceptance without surgery. In fact, his message of self-acceptance goes beyond gender and genitals: it is a universal concept of knowing, becoming, and loving yourself. 

The cost for the event is $20 and takes place at Stockroom University, located next to the Stockroom/Syren retail store at 2809½ W. Sunset Blvd. in Los Angeles, CA 90026

Eagle LA Mr Leather 2012

On Saturday, January 21^st four contestants competed for the title of Eagle LA Mr. Leather 2012 at the Eagle in Los Angeles, CA. The night before, longtime Mr. LA Leather supporter Ted lead the contestants in a number draw during the Meet and Greet. 

A capacity crowd filled the Eagle for the main event. Eagle LA Mr. Leather 2009 Jasun Mark served as a riotous and energetic MC, putting all four men through their paces. Patrons were treated to a 90 second speech, formal attire, bar wear/pop question, and jock strap portions of the contest, as each sexy contestant gave, and bared, their all for the crowd.

Outgoing Eagle LA Mr. Leather, the popular and handsome Joey Lopez, gave a brief and heartfelt step down speech before returning to his judging duties for the evening. (Photo Two). The judges voted, the scores were tallied, and around 1am the winner was announced. Congratulations to Eagle LA Mr. Leather Andre, and First Runner Up Dan.

Michael Zane is Mr. Hayes Valley Leather 2012! Robert Soares came in 1st Runner Up.

This Sunday Marlena's in San Francisco was packed with hot Leathermen (and a few Leatherwomen) to watch the contest.

There was an illustrious panel of Judges with Desmond Perrotto Mr Hayes Valley Leather 2008 acting as head judge. He was joined by Darren Bondy Mr San Francisco Leather 2011, Vick Germany SF Dyke Daddy 2002, Jacob Richards of Folsom Street Events, Tyler Fong American Leatherboy 2011, and Mark Paladini of Paladini Productions.
