NCSF at LLC XVI

NCSF will be in full force at the Leather Leadership Conference in Nashville TN this year April 13- 15, 2012. 

The Activism track will be spearheaded by the NCSF and affiliated speakers: Susan Wright, Leigha Fleming, Vivienne Kramer, Richard Sprott, Mercury and Bob Keltner providing five classes as well as a Caucusing session.

NCSF spearheaded presentations include:

• Train the Trainer - Public Speaking 101 combined with a How to talk about BDSM so you can safely and easily talk about the lifestyle to vanillas 
• Consent Counts - What is Consent?, Consent FAQ, Best Practices, What's Next? and What Can You Do? Action Items 
• Media Training - Learn how to develop a media plan based on proven strategies and tactics, while hearing about recent news stories and notorious incidents involving BDSM 
• Outreach to Law Enforcement and Mental Health Professionals Learn the specific ways to do effective outreach to legal and mental health professionals
• Grassroots Organizing - How to organize a Lobbying Day and call a Townhall meeting
• Caucus Sessions - 90 minute block of time organized by affinity groups such as Master/slave, TNG, or by geography such as East, West, South, on participant-determined topics such as Outreach, Legislation, Community Development, etc.

Southeast LeatherSIR/boy 2012

Southeast Black and Blue, LLC announced the selection of their 2012 Southeast LeatherSIR and Southeast Leatherboy. The new Southeast LeatherSIR 2012 is SIR Ben Carter and our new Southeast Leatherboy 2012 is Joe “joe boy” Watkins. 

SIR Ben and joe boy are very well known throughout the entire Southeastern United States as they have been travelling the region while SIR Ben represented as Mr. SECC (Southeast Conference of Clubs) for 2011. SIR Ben and joe boy will be celebrating their 25th anniversary together in November of 2012. SIR Ben and joe boy live on their farm in Monroe, GA along with their daughter Stephanie and their dogs Buddy and Mazy. They are also very active in the South Florida Leather Community where they commute to frequently.

SIR Ben and joe boy join current Southeast Community Bootblack, Girl Dale, as the three of them represent the Southeastern United States at International LeatherSIR/boy/Community Bootblack in San Francisco, CA July 26-28, 2012.

Southeast Black and Blue Weekend 2012 is scheduled for August 10-12, 2012 at the Atlanta Eagle.

Seattle Boot Weekend

Seattle Boot Weekend 2012 will run Friday, February 24 through Sunday,February 26, 2012.

The event kicks off with the official Meet and Greet at The Cuff Complex, 1533 13th Ave, Seattle, WA from 7 PM - 11 PM on Friday the 24th.  Out of town and local bootblacks and boot fetishists will meet and mingle - there will be plenty of bootblack stands on hand to accommodate the plethora of bootblacks who will be attending.

Saturday, February 25th will feature a bagel and coffee brunch from 11 AM to Noon, workshops about boots from Noon to 6pm, and finally a boot playparty from 7 PM to 1 AM.  Bootblack stands will be available all day and during the play party.

Admission to the workshops and play party is $25 and the Buffet brunch is $10, please pay at the door.

International Power Exchange Contest at Beyond Leather

The Producers of Beyond Leather present the International Power Exchange Contest directed by chris, Miss Rae's pet and SouthEast Community Bootblack 2009. 

IPE is open to all pairs/triad/poly over 21 years of age regardless of gender or sexual preference, who have been in a power exchange dynamic for at least 1 year and are not a traditional Master/slave pair. Only 3 from a poly family may represent the family. For example, a pair could enter as: Dominant/submissive, Femdom/submissive, Handler/puppy, Daddy or Mommy with a boi/boy/girl, Sir/Ma'am with a boi/boy/girl/little and the list goes on.  

The winning pair/family will have the opportunity to travel around the country giving demos and classes on the aspects of their dynamic. Beyond Leather will assist with raising a travel fund to help subsidize travel expenses for the winning pair.

The judges for the inaguaral contest are Daddy Mikey (International Mr Olympus Leather 2004), Mark Frazier (ILSb/ICBB Producer), Triskelan, Douglas "D" Pamplin (Mr Mid-Atlantic Leather 2011 & 1st Runner Up Intl Mr. Leather 2011), Mistress Susan (International Master 2006). Big Red and Boy Edward with Utah Rox (International Mr Olympus Leather 2010) as the Master of Ceremonies.

Ireland's Leather RULE Prevails

 Last month I had the unique pleasure of presenting in Dublin for Ireland's gay men's leather BDSM organization, RULE (Rubber-Uniform-Leather-Event). As the group is slowly establishing its place in the international community, they are expanding their endeavors by conducting educational demos and workshops. The event consisted of a 3 hour introduction to bondage workshop during the day, followed by their monthly dress code event that evening at a local venue. The class took place at the OUThouse (www.outhouse.ie), a prominent LGBT community resource center located in central Dublin.  Spaces were made for approximately 25 participants, and I was told it filled quite rapidly.  The workshop focused on rope bondage basics and safety, explored some very fun predicament scenarios, and was followed by hands-on practicing and plenty of time for Q and A. The guys were wonderfully enthusiastic and hungry for the information, and it was awesome to teach to a group that was so engaged and eager to learn. 

The bar event took place later that evening at the Turk's Head in Temple Bar, and was quite impressive, even though the members had tried to prepare me for something small compared to what I might see in the US. There was a total of 120 men that attended, the majority of which were decked out fully in leather, rubber, skin or military gear, and sports uniforms.  I thought this was a very successful turnout, given that it was a Sunday night and the weather was exceptionally damp and cold. All were fully engaged and enthusiastic...and there were even clusters of play that were taking place. Everyone was very friendly and outgoing. No pretention, no attitude. And best of all...NO talk of Old Guard or leather contest politics!

Executive Board change

The producers of International LeatherSIR/boy/Community Bootblack (ILSb/ICBB) announced the addition of Jeffrey Payne to their Executive Board of Directors. 

Jeffrey has a wealth of experience and expertise to bring to the organization’s continued growth and expansion as the Player’s Title of choice. He’ll be taking over the duties of Webmaster and contestant prize packages / sponsor liaison. 

NW Leatherboy 2012 change

Danny Carpenter NW Leatherboy 2012 has stepped aside from his title for personal reasons. ILSb/ICBB producers thank Danny for his contributions to the title and wish him well in his future endeavors.

They also announced that Dan McGuire former NW Leatherboy 2010 has accepted the title of NW Leatherboy 2012 and will join the 2012 Title team of SIR Jim Drew - Northwest Leather SIR 2012 and Ruin - Northwest Community Bootblack 2012. boy Dan will represent his region at ILSb/ICBB this coming July 2012 in San Francisco. Congratulations to boy dan for stepping up and to the entire NW Title team.

Interview with slave Alia

Editor's note  - We attended Southwest Leather Conference for the first time this year - see our coverage in Leatherati Live - and had a fantastic time.  We met some great people in the scene, including slave Alia.  I knew I wanted to interview her the minute I realized that she is a conservative Muslim, who is in service as a slave to a gay man.  There had to be a story there, and there is, a fascinating one in fact which slave Alia tells with clarity and a full recognition of the irony which drew me in.  

Aside from the focus of this interview, slave Alia has a full and successful history in the community which could consume a dozen more interviews!  Actually this turned out to be our longest video interview to date. I tried to edit but the story she weaves is to cohesive to lose an of it.  I do have to apologize however for the quality of the video about midpoint in the interview.  The focus went haywire and it looks like we went to soft focus, a la Marlene Dietrich.  But you'll enjoy anyway.
